Bobcats are district champs

Walnut Ridge's Clay Hufstedler slides into base to beat a throw to a Marmaduke defender during the finals of the 2A-3 District Baseball Tournament. The Bobcats claimed the title with an 8-6 victory.

The Walnut Ridge Bobcats edged the Marmaduke Greyhounds 8-6 to claim the championship of the 2A-3 District Baseball Tournament on Saturday at Marked Tree.

Baron Estes was the winning pitcher. He allowed two runs on two hits and had five strikeouts in five innings of work.

Zach Crisler and Hunter Flippo each went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Hoxie tracksters compete

The Hoxie High School senior high track teams were in action in a pair of meets recently. The teams competed in the Arnold Relays, hosted by Paragould High School, on April 23, and the Redskin Relays at Pocahontas on April 19.

Hillcrest boys district runners-up

Hillcrest, Sloan-Hendrix and Black Rock were among the teams competing in the 1A-2 East District Baseball Tournament last week at Brockwell.

S-H teams win at
district track meet

The Sloan-Hendrix senior high track teams competed in the 1A-3 Conference track meet on Friday at Heber Springs. The Lady Greyhounds won the girls' meet, while the boys' teams placed second.
