High school baseball and softball results from the past week included:
WR - Maynard softball The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats swept 2A-3 conference rival Maynard in softball action Thursday at Stewart Park. Walnut Ridge won the opener 6-4 and took the second game 13-3. Hannah Massey was the winning pitcher in each game.
Piggott's Lady Mohawks edged Hoxie 10-9 in a 3A-3 Conference softball game. Hali Pratt was 2-for-4 and Sierra Morris was 2-for-2 at the plate for Hoxie. Pratt took the pitching loss.
BR - Weiner baseball Black Rock defeated Weiner 13-12 in baseball action on April 11 at Black Rock.
Hillcrest - ICC baseball An unearned run in the top of the seventh inning gave Izard County Consolidated a 1-0 win over Hillcrest in baseball action on April 10. With one out in the top of the seventh, Izard County's Uriah Mead reached base on an error. Hillcrest pitcher Tyler Parker then struck out Blake Worsham for the second out of the inning. With two outs and two strikes, Parker struck out ICC's Chris King on a curveball that got by the catcher. On the attempted put-out of King at first, the catcher's throw got by the first baseman and into the right field corner, allowing Mead to score from first. In Hillcrests' final at-bat, Parker reached on an error, but was thrown out attempting to steal. ICC pitcher Preston Harmon then struck out the next two batters to end the game. Parker pitched a complete game for Hillcrest, allowing no earned runs on just four hits, while ringing up 15 strikeouts.
Weiner defeated Hoxie 14-7 in baseball action on April 10 at Hoxie.
Hoxie - Osceola softball Hoxie's Hali Pratt threw a no-hitter against Osceola in the Lady Mustangs' 20-0 rout over the Lady Seminoles on April 9 at Hoxie. The Lady Mustangs improved to 3-9 with the win.
The Hoxie Mustangs edged the Harrisburg Hornets 6-5 in 3A-3 Conference baseball action at Harrisburg. Seth Hart was the winning pitcher, allowing nine hits and registering eight strikeouts. Offensively, the Mustangs were led by Hayden Defries, who had three hits. Trent Kirksey, Slade Sullens, Jake Ellis and Hart each had two hits.
Buffalo Island Central defeated Walnut Ridge 11-1 in a 2A-3 Conference softball game at Monette.
