WR records road wins
The Walnut Ridge High School baseball team was on a roll last week recording three lopsided road victories.
The Bobcats traveled to Lake City on Thursday and came away with a 15-0 shutout over the Riverside Rebels.
Hunter Flippo earned the win on the mound to improve to 4-1 on the season. He allowed just two hits, while registering seven strikeouts in four innings of work.
Zach Crisler and Teague Phillips led Walnut Ridge at the plate with three hits and three RBIs apiece.
The Bobcats improved to 7-1 in conference play and 13-4 overall.
Walnut Ridge defeated the McCrory Jaguars 13-4 in nonconference action on March 27.
Rowdy Ditto reached base five times for the Bobcats, recording one hit and being hit by a pitch four times. Tyler Dickson batted 2-for-5 and scored a run. Crisler had a hit and two RBIs, and Eric Wilcoxson had a solo homer.
McCrory pitchers had difficulty finding the plate, walking 22 Bobcat batters.
Zach Carson allowed four runs on three hits and recorded three strikeouts in five innings of work to earn the victory. Range Weeks pitched the final two innings, allowing one hit and striking out two.
The Bobcats began the week by routing Rector 15-4 on March 26.
Flippo went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and four RBIs for the Cats. Phillips added two hits and drove in three runs.
Crisler earned the pitching win, allowing four runs and three hits while ringing up 10 strikeouts.
