Hillcrest boys record wins
Hillcrest scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to defeat Sloan-Hendrix 8-4 in high school baseball action Thursday at Imboden.
Sloan-Hendrix led 4-3 at the end of six innings when Brad Nunnally led off the seventh with a single for Hillcrest. Jeremiah Turner followed with a home run to give the Screamin' Eagles the lead. Hillcrest would add three more in the frame.
Offensively Colman Evans was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Cray Howard went 2-for-3, with a double and scored two runs. Turner finished with a double and home run with two RBIs and two runs scored. Cameron Durham, Tyler Parker and Brad Nunnally each had a hit.
Parker picked up the pitching win in relief. He allowed two hits and struck out four in four innings of work. Parker is 5-0 on the year.
Hillcrest improved to 6-4 overall and 4-0 in the 1A-2 North.
The Screamin' Eagles scored four runs in the top of the first inning and went on to rout the Izard County Consolidated Cougars 14-0 on March 27 at Brockwell.
Hillcrest added two runs in third inning and single runs in the fourth and fifth before putting the game away with six runs in the sixth inning.
Zach Doyle, Cray and Evans each had two hits for Hillcrest. Parker had one hit and drove in five runs. Evans had three RBIs, while Cray and Nunnally each drove in a pair of runs. Turner also had an RBI.
Parker was the winning pitcher, allowing just two hits and recording six strikeouts.
