Spring
cleanups
planned
The cities of Walnut Ridge and Hoxie, as well as the county, have announced plans for spring cleanups.
Walnut Ridge
Walnut Ridge's cleanup will begin Monday and continue through April 20. Curbside pickup will be available during these days for non-household trash, and a dumpster will also be available at the city shop.
No tires, shingles, hazardous chemicals or paint cans with paint in them will be accepted. Paint cans that are dried up and have no lids can be collected.
Residents are asked to wait until Monday to begin putting items by the road.
Hoxie
The city of Hoxie will begin its cleanup on Monday, as well.
Pickup will begin on the northwest side of Midway Road and work southwest to the bypass, then cross over to the southeast side and work northeast to the Brewer addition.
Residents are reminded that tires, shingles, paint cans with paint inside and chemical cans cannot be picked up. They are asked to separate items into metal, brush, wood and junk.
Dumpsters to
be available
Lawrence County will have Class IV dumpsters available beginning Monday and continuing through Saturday, April 14. The dumpsters are for non-household waste, such as appliances and furniture. No tires, shingles or building materials will be accepted.
The dumpsters will be located at the former Moore's Feed Store in downtown Black Rock and the Lawrence County Shop on Highway 67, south of Hoxie.
The dumpsters will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, April 13, and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 14.
