Dr. Thomas Jones
chosen to lead Williams

Williams Baptist College announced Friday in a news conference the selection of its sixth president, Dr. Thomas O. Jones, who has been chosen to lead the four-year, liberal arts college at Walnut Ridge.

The Williams Board of Trustees voted Friday to make Jones the next president of the college. He was nominated for the post by WBC's presidential search committee.

Coxes purchase Higginbotham Funeral Service

Clell Cox, co-owner of Taylor-Cox Funeral Home in Pocahontas, recently purchased Higginbotham Funeral Service, located in Walnut Ridge.

Shelter benefit nets $3,940

A Beans, Cornbread and Bluegrass Benefit supper held Saturday evening has raised a total of $3,940 for The Children's Shelter. The supper was held at First Baptist Church's M.A.C. (Mission Activities Center).

Tickets available for concert

Tickets for the May 11 Lauren Gray concert to benefit the Downtown Walnut Ridge organization are now available, according to Josh Dement with the Walnut Ridge Chapter of Modern Woodmen.

Spring cleanups planned

The cities of Walnut Ridge and Hoxie, as well as the county, have announced plans for spring cleanups.
