Miss Mustang set at HoxieHoxie High School's annual Miss Mustang pageant will be held on Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Walnut Ridge Community Center. Fourteen girls are registered to compete and will be judged in three categories including casual wear, talent and formal wear. The girls will also be competing for side awards "Most Photogenic" and "People's Choice Award." Contestants are: Caitlyn Steele, Student Council, daughter of Chris and Christy Steele of Walnut Ridge; Sara Wright, Gifted and Talented, daughter of Mike and Laura Wright of Smithville; Alexia Crow, senior class, daughter of Del and Rebecca Robins of Walnut Ridge; Amber Dawson, Youth's Against Destructive Decisions, daughter of Candace Dawson of Hoxie and Stacy Dawson of Missouri. Megan Baltz, sophomore class, daughter of Jennifer Lindsey of Pocahontas; Morgan Woodard, cheerleading, daughter of Dwayne and Angel Woodard of Walnut Ridge; Emily Freer, Science Club, daughter of Allen and Nadine Freer of Clover Bend; Desiree Freer, FFA, daughter of Allen and Nadine Freer of Clover Bend; Hannah Moore, Beta Club, daughter of Clarence and Sherry Moore of Hoxie. Brittany Henson, independent candidate, daughter of Peggy Henson of Hoxie; Bethany Wright, Future Business Leaders of America, daughter of Kevin and Beverly Wright of Hoxie; Amanda Moskop, Health Occupation Students of America, daughter of Jeff and Mitzi Moskop of Sedgwick; Kristen Carter, choir, daughter of Rick and Nanette Carter of Pocahontas; and Jennifer Poteete, Library Club, daughter of Jana Poteete of Hoxie. Admission will be $6 for adults and $5 for students. The pageant will be conducted by Carolyn Fowler of Hoxie. The Hoxie High School Band will sponsor the pageant. Corey Emerson is the band director.
