Bobcats split games in LR
The Walnut Ridge High School baseball team played a pair of games in Little Rock on Saturday.
The Bobcats lost to Arkansas Baptist 14-4, as Eric Wilcoxson went 2-for-3 at the plate, with a double and scored two runs.
Next, Walnut Ridge defeated Horatio 11-10 in eight innings.
Wilcoxson had four hits, including three doubles, and drove in three runs. Zach Crisler had three hits and three RBIs. Range Weeks and Clay Hufstedler also had three hits apiece.
Weeks pitched the final two and two-thirds innings to earn his fourth win of the season. He allowed one run on two hits, and recorded one strikeout.
The victory lifted the Bobcats' record to 8-5 on the season.
The Bobcats suffered their first loss in conference play on Thursday, falling 8-1 at Marked Tree.
Wilcoxson batted 2-for-4 for Walnut Ridge, which fell to 3-1 in 2A-3 play. The Indians remained undefeated in league play at 4-0.
Walnut Ridge scored six runs in the sixth inning to break open a close game and defeat the Marmaduke Greyhounds 15-8 on March 13.
Tyler Dickson led the Bobcats with three hits and four RBIs, while Crisler added three hits and two RBIs. Wilcoxson also drove in three runs.
Cole Hicks, Hunter Flippo, Teague Phillips and Rowdy Ditto each added two hits.
Weeks allowed eight runs on seven hits, with four strikeouts in six innings of work.
