Nathan Hibbard Two Lawrence County athletes hurled no-hitters to lead their teams to victory on the diamond last week.
Hoxie's Seth Hart tossed a no-hitter to lead the Mustangs to a 6-1 victory over Harrisburg in high school baseball action on Thursday. Hart allowed only one run, which was unearned, while registering eight strikeouts. At the plate, he had two hits and drove in a pair of runs. Slade Sullens also had a pair of hits for the Mustangs, who improved to 1-1 in 3A-3 conference play and 3-3 overall.
Also on Thursday, Walnut Ridge's Hannah Massey no-hit East Poinsett County, as the Lady Bobcats picked up their first win of the season with a 15-0 shutout. Massey had five strikeouts and two walks in the three-inning contest. Sabrina Knight led the Lady Cats offense with three hits, including a triple. She also drove in two runs and scored a pair of runs. Ashlyn Cothern went 2-for-3, with an RBI. Felicia Price had one hit, two RBIs and scored two runs. Raven Dobbs scored three runs.
Hillcrest's Madison Huskey was a perfect 4-for-4 and drove in seven runs as the Lady Sceamin' Eagles defeated Black Rock 27-14 in 1A-3 East softball action March 13 at Black Rock. Kellie Beasley also had a big day at the plate, batting 5-for-5 with a homer and three RBIs. Ashley Mansfield went 3-for-4 and drove in four runs, and Caitlyn Richey had two hits and four RBIs. Kaylee Hammock and Christian Ervin each had three hits for Black Rock.
Riverside's Lady Rebels defeated Walnut Ridge 18-3 on March 12. Knight went 2-for-3 at the plate, and Cothern added a hit.
