Gray, who was a contestant on this season's American Idol, has been performing locally with her father, Mike Gray, and the Mike Gray Band for several years. Her father is a Walnut Ridge native and graduated from Walnut Ridge High School.
Lauren grew up in Pocahontas and later moved with her family to Hardy and helps run the family business, Petals and Lace. They also operate CreekSide Loft, which provides a performance venue for Lauren and the Mike Gray Band. Lauren is often referred to as, "The Voice of Spring River."
She gained national notoriety with her performances on American Idol, wowing the Idol judges in St. Louis and Hollywood. She was eliminated during the semifinals in Las Vegas with entreaties from the judges to continue her music and come back on the show again.
Ellen Degeneres, who has also served as an American Idol judge invited Lauren to appear on The Ellen Degeneres Show immediately following her last appearance on Idol. The show aired March 1 with Lauren performing "Stand By Me."
