WR drops game, records wins
Pocahontas' Bradley Sutton smacked a two-out, two-run double in the eighth inning lifted the Redskins to a 6-5 win over the Walnut Ridge Bobcats in high school baseball action on Friday at Pocahontas.
Eric Wilcoxson had three hits, and Darren Tribble had two for the Bobcats.
Walnut Ridge hammered 2A-3 conference rival Cross County 15-2 on March 7 at Cherry Valley.
Zach Crisler was a perfect 4-for-4, and Tyler Dickson was 3-for-3 at the plate for the Bobcats. Hunter Flippo went 3-for-4, including a double and a triple.
Flippo was the winning pitcher, allowing just one hit while pitching a five-inning complete game.
The Bobcats improved to 2-0 in conference play and 6-2 overall.
Walnut Ridge needed only three innings to defeat Riverside 17-2 on March 6 at Stewart Park.
Crisler started on the mound for the Bobcats and allowed two runs on three hits, while striking out two.
At the plate, Crisler batted 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs. Wilcoxson also went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs. Teague Phillips was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Tyler Dickson went 2-for-3 and scored three runs.
