Bryant announces run
for state representative

Lawrence County Chamber Economic Development Director L.J. Bryant of Grubbs has announced that he will seek the seat of Arkansas State Representative for District 52.

Bryant, who has worked with the local Chamber since July of 2011, said he does not foresee his run for office changing anything with that position, which is part-time.

"Assuming I win, the legislature is part-time," he said. "It will enhance my ability to be helpful to Lawrence County."

Bryant said he would likely have to scale back his role at his business. He owns four tax and accounting firms in Jonesboro.

Bryant said the focus of his campaign is on encouraging job creation and economic growth in Northeast Arkansas, the same things he has been pursuing in his position with the Chamber.

"It is a great honor to serve the communities that I grew up in - especially in the area of helping to create jobs here," Bryant stated. "The people of this part of the state have been such an important part of shaping my life and career, to be able to give back to them now is extremely gratifying."

District 52 includes portions of Poinsett, Jackson, Craighead and Independence counties.
