Primary filing period slated
The filing period for the May 22 Primary Election will begin Thursday at noon.
Those filing as Democrats will pay their filing fees at Downing's Tax Service on Main Street in Walnut Ridge.
The Republican Headquarters will be open Friday from 1-3 p.m. and March 1 from 9 a.m. to noon for those who are interested in filing as a Republican. Anyone who has a conflict during these times can call Larry Corbett at 886-6072 to make an appointment.
County Clerk Tina Stowers said after filing with their individual parties, candidates must file their paperwork in her office by noon on March 1.
Those wishing to run as independents must file an affidavit of eligibility and a notice of candidacy by noon on March 1 in the county clerk's office. They will then have to complete a petition, which is due by May 1 at noon.
