Hillcrest claims senior night wins
Nathan Hibbard The Hillcrest basketball teams hosted Weiner at Lynn on Senior Night Thursday. The Lady Screamin' Eagles outlasted Weiner 67-60 in double overtime, while the boys had an easier time, defeating the Cardinals 59-33.
Weiner led 19-13 at the end of the first quarter, 28-24 at halftime and 40-34 after three periods. The teams were tied 49-49 at the end of regulation and 58-58 after the first overtime period. Lindsey Crews and Mackenzie Nunnally scored all of Hillcrest's points in the overtime periods, as the Lady Eagles prevailed 67-60. Crews led the Lady Eagles with 21 points. Nunnally finished with 16 points and 14 rebounds, and Kellie Beasley added 11 points.
Hillcrest trailed 23-20 at halftime, before dominating the second half for the 59-33 win. Zach Doyle scored 13 points, while Dylan Brady and Colman Evans each added 12 points for Hillcrest.
The Mammoth Spring Lady Bears defeated Hillcrest 47-36 in senior girls action on Jan. 24 at Mammoth Spring. Nunnally led Hillcrest with 23 points, while Beasley had 12 rebounds. Hillcrest won a junior girls game 42-31.
Mammoth Spring defeated the Hillcrest senior boys 80-53 on Jan. 24. Evans scored 19 points, and Doyle added 17 for Hillcrest.
