Lady Mustangs record wins
Hoxie's Lady Mustangs picked up a pair of wins in 3A-3 Conference basketball action last week.
The Hoxie senior girls defeated Manila 64-50 on Thursday at Hoxie.
The Lady Mustangs led 16-13 after one quarter, 34-24 at halftime and 47-37 after three periods.
Cayley Rosson and Brandy Alls each scored 15 points, while Courtney Sears added 14 points for Hoxie. Krista Coffell and Autumn Nelson had seven points apiece, and Maddison Woodard added six points.
Manila won a junior girls game 46-18.
Hoxie trailed just 15-10 at halftime, but fell behind 31-14 at the end of the third quarter and couldn't catch up in the final period.
Brooke Willfond led Hoxie with nine points. Katelyn Fitzgerald finished with four points. Emily Hatfield and Bekka Kopp each added two points, and Angel Morris had one point.
Hoxie's seventh-grade girls defeated Manila 26-18.
Hoxie trailed 8-4 at the end of the first quarter, but outscored Manila 8-0 in the second period to take a 12-8 lead into halftime. The Lady Mustangs extended their lead to 20-10 after three quarters.
Kopp and Kelsey Ward each had 10 points for Hoxie. Erica Eubanks scored four points, and Devin Pollard added two points.
The Lady Mustangs traveled to Piggott on Jan. 23 and handed the Lady Mohawks a 61-51 defeat.
Hoxie jumped out to a 15-8 first-quarter lead, which proved to be decisive. Hoxie led 32-22 at halftime and 45-36 at the end of the third quarter.
Rosson finished with 20 points, which included going six-for-six from the free-throw line in the final period. Woodard hit five three-pointers and finished with 19 total points. Nelson scored eight points, and Alls added seven. Sears contributed five points, and Grace Hall had two points.
Piggott's junior high girls defeated Hoxie 40-12.
Kopp scored three points for Hoxie. Pollard, Fitzgerald, Willfond and Krista Vankirk each added two points, and Ward added a free throw.
