Hoxie passes budget
In a special meeting on Jan. 24 the Hoxie City Council passed a budget for the 2012 year.
Mayor Lanny Tinker has volunteered to take a $2,500 decrease in his annual salary and the council has also agreed to reduce their collective salary by an equal amount.
"It's been a tough job trying to find ways to reduce expenditures enough to balance our budget," Tinker said. "We had to come up with ways to make our income cover what we have to pay out."
The city council will meet on Feb. 21 this month due to Valentine's Day falling on the regular meeting date. "Many of our council members have businesses that are very busy on that day," Tinker said.
Further discussion of what the new budget entails will be addressed at this meeting Tinker said.
