Saffell is Heisman nominee
Sarah Saffell has been chosen as Hillcrest High School's female winner of the Wendy's High School Heisman Award.
She was chosen for her outstanding excellence in academics, athletics and leadership in her high school and community.
The Wendy's High School Heisman celebrates the achievements of the nation's top high school seniors both in and out of the classroom. Just as the collegiate Heisman is known for being the highest award in college football, the Wendy's High School Heisman award is recognized as an esteemed award at the high school level as it encourages future leadership by acknowledging well-rounded students.
Saffell has earned a 4.0 grade point average and is the co-valedictorian of the Hillcrest Class of 2012. In high school, she has played basketball for six years and softball for four years.
She was a member of the 2010 Ralph Joseph Youth Leadership program and currently serves as a member of FFA and FBLA, is the president of BETA and is the senior class historian.
She is the daughter of Ronald and Becky Saffell of Saffell, the granddaughter of Ronald and Sue Whitmire of Strawberry and Billie and Avanell Saffell of Saffell, and the great-granddaughter of Eunice "Brownie" Brewer of Sidney.
She plans to attend the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and major in agribusiness with a focus in pre-law.
