Ian Christopher Barnes

Chris Barnes and Bekah Smith, both of Jonesboro, have announced the birth of a son, born Jan. 17, 2012, at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed seven pounds, seven ounces, and has been named Ian Christopher Barnes.

Grandparents are Mike and Loretta Barnes of Cave City and Rev. Glenn and Janet Smith of Walnut Ridge.

Great-grandparents are Lee and Maudie Barnes of Cushman, Johnny and Louise Curtis of Cave City, Herman and Anna Lou Shaw of Walnut Ridge and Gene and Carolyn Smith of Powhatan.

Addyson Lyric Lovelady

Aaron and Jacey Lovelady of Jonesboro have announced the birth of a daughter, born Jan. 13, 2012, at St. Bernard's Birthcare Center in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed seven pounds, 10 ounces, and has been named Addyson Lyric Lovelady. She has one brother, Carson, who is two.

Grandparents are Joel and Kim Lovelady of Jonesboro, Tinsley and Judy Davis and Cliff and Sandra Wicker, all of Morristown, Tenn.

Great-grandparents are Joe and Janice Lovelady of Smithville, JoAnn Wicker of Paragould, Jean Brady of Morristown, Tenn.; and Helen Davis of Bybee, Tenn.

Thomas O. Doyle

Thomas O. Doyle, 79, of Wichita, Kan., died Jan. 15, 2012.

He was born Nov. 21, 1932, in Strawberry.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Joyce; and a sister, Louise.

Survivors include two sons, John Doyle and wife Cindy, and Jeff Doyle and wife Wende; a sister, Nina Ward; three grandchildren, Mark, Casey and Sydnee; and a special friend, Barb Wehby.

Funeral was Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Believers Southern Baptist Church.

Majorie Ann Franks

Majorie Ann Franks, 70, of Walnut Ridge, died Jan. 22, 2012, in Walnut Ridge.

She was a lifelong resident of Lawrence County and a member of First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star for 35 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Franks; her parents, John and Eunice Moore McEntire; a daughter-in-law, Sarah Jane Franks; and a great-granddaughter, Autumn Franks.

Survivors include two sons, Lonnie Franks, Booneville, Miss., and John Franks and wife Maryjo, Walnut Ridge; a daughter, Deborah Davis and husband Dirk, Walnut Ridge; a sister, Ruby Graham and husband Glendon, Walnut Ridge; seven grandchildren, Nancy Floyd, Matthew Franks, Chris Franks, Jason Franks, Zachary Davis, Jebediah Davis and Scout Davis; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral is today at 2 p.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home with Bill Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Dirk Davis, Zachary Davis, Jebediah Davis, Scout Davis, John Franks and Matthew Franks. Honorary pallbearers will be Lonnie Franks, Jason Franks, Jason Belcher, Chad Ditto, Matthew Smith, Corbett Clark, Jim Simpson and Beau Shrable.

Imoneil H. Holt

Imoneil H. Holt, 78, of Little Rock, died Jan. 16, 2012.

Born Jan. 19, 1933, at Lynn, she was the daughter of Filmore and Ada Smith Casper. She was a graduate of Lynn High School and Draughn's Business College. She was assistant to the principal at the Arkansas School for the Deaf for over 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Holt; a brother, Maynard Casper; and a sister, Lois Nunnely.

Survivors include a daughter, Robin Holt, Little Rock; a son, Bill James Holt and wife Regina, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Jasper James Holt-Teza and Maya Holt-Teza.

A memorial service was held Saturday at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home in Little Rock with Rev. Louise Whitley officiating.

Betty Pickard

Elizabeth "Betty" Pickard, 83, of Strawberry, died Jan. 22, 2012, at her home.

Born May 21, 1928, in Galena, Ill., she was the daughter of Fred and Edith Gray Rury. She was co-owner and operator of many restaurants throughout the years.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Rury.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, William Pickard; a son, Steven Pickard, Strawberry; three daughters, Jean Ann Murphy and husband Bill, Colorado, and Laura Rohr and Diane Schnick, both of Strawberry; a sister, Jean Hahn, Capron, Ill.; 11 grandchildren, Teresa Robinson, Shaun Murphy, Melissa Murphy, Karista Love, Paul Short, Jeffery Derrickson, Joshua Derrickson, Kelly McNaughton, Kelsi McNaughton, Staci McNaughton and Carol "C.J." Schnick; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral is Thursday at 2 p.m. at Qualls Funeral Home in Cave City.

Visitation is Thursday from noon until time of the service.

Viola Pickney

Viola Pickney, 87, of Black Rock, died Jan. 23, 2012, at her home.

Born June 21, 1924, in Hamil, she was the daughter of Richard Rubin and Martha E. Thornton Lawrence. She was a homemaker and owned a ceramic shop for several years. She and her husband also owned a cafˇ in Black Rock. She was of the Pentecostal belief.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Berlecamp; and four siblings.

Survivors include her husband, Freddie Pickney, whom she married May 21, 1947; two daughters, Jeanette Darris and Diane Ragsdale, both of Black Rock; three sons, Freddie Pickney Jr., Donald Sanders and Bobby Joe Pickney, all of Black Rock; a brother, Bud Lawrence, West Plains, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Funeral is Friday at 10 a.m. at Bryan Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Bryant officiating. Burial will be in Oak Forest Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Ludwig, T.J. Ludwig, Dean Pickney, Scott Pickney, Michael Sanders and Greg Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Darris, Alan Smith and Hunter Smith.

Visitation is Thursday from 6-8 p.m.

Kathryn Lenora Poe

Kathryn Lenora Peters Poe, 72, of the Eleven Point community, died Jan. 19, 2012, at her home, surrounded by her family.

She was born March 12, 1939, in Pocahontas, to the late Clarence E. and Nellie Wilcox Peters.

She married Elmer Lee Poe in Rockford, Ill., on July 2, 1959. She was a faithful member of the Gravesville Community Church and worked for many years at Waterloo Industries of Pocahontas. She enjoyed fishing, crocheting and listening to gospel music.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sons, Christopher Lee and David Lee Poe; one brother, Clarence Earl Peters; five sisters, Mary Jean Peters, Rosie Lee Smith, Sandra Bogue, Debra Peters and Carol Irene Peters.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Elmer, of the home; four children, Larry Poe of Pocahontas, Dan and Judy Poe of Crystal Lake, Ill., Michael Poe and Patty Poe, both of Pocahontas; four sisters, Gene and James Bilderback, Evelyn Green, Valirie and Montgomery Stickel, and Reba and David Clarke; one brother, Roger and Donna Peters; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends survive her.

Services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Higginbotham Funeral Service with Rev. Carl Massey officiating. Interment was in the Gravesville Cemetery in Randolph County.

Her four grandsons, David, Jordan, Stephen and Adam Poe were honored to serve as pallbearers. Two honorary pallbearers were Harold Snow and Billy Jack Snow.

Emogene Ballard Wilkins, 87, of Cave City, mother of Helen Walker of Strawberry, died Jan. 22, 2012, in Batesville. Funeral is today at 2 p.m. at Mount View Baptist Church. Burial will be in Mount View Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch-McGee Funeral Home of Cave City. Johnny Frank Winchester

Johnny Frank Winchester, 62, of Garfield, died Jan. 15, 2012.

Born Aug. 14, 1949, in Lawrence County he lived here until adulthood.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Terri; his mother, Wanda Lee Winchester; and his grandparents, Morris and Clara Winchester.

Survivors include his children, Patti and Bobby.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers.
