Hoxie routs Tuckerman
Jacob Defries scored 23 points, and Seth Hart drained five three-pointers, as the Hoxie Mustangs routed Tuckerman 70-49 in senior boys basketball Friday night at Hoxie.
Hoxie led 20-9 after one quarter, 37-18 at halftime and 53-27 after three periods.
Hart finished with 17 points, and Colton Watson added 11 points Slade Sullens scored eight points. Hayden Defries and Tyler Hall each had four points, and Jake Ellis finished with three points for the Mustangs.
With the win, Hoxie improved to 7-7 overall and 5-4 in 3A-3 Conference action.
The Hoxie junior high boys defeated Tuckerman 53-29.
The junior Mustangs led 18-3 at the end of the first quarter, 33-11 at halftime and 50-17 at the end of the third period.
Tristan Privett and Noah Adamson each scored 17 points for Hoxie. Quinton Smith had eight points, and Tristan Sisco added five. Alex Carpenter and Rylee Lewis each had two points, and James Johnson and Aaron French each added a point.
The Tuckerman seventh-grade boys defeated Hoxie 17-8.
Isaac Dunning had four points for Hoxie, and Chaise Moore and Sam Light each had two points.
The Trumann Wildcats defeated Hoxie 79-61 in the boys quarterfinals of the Kell Classic on Wednesday at Swifton. Trumann outscored the Mustangs 54-31 in the second half to overcome a five-point deficit at the intermission.
Watson scored 29 points, and Jacob Defries added 10 for the Mustangs. Slade Sullens finished with 13 points, and Hayden Defries had four. Tyler Hall scored three points, and Brody VanWinkle added two.
