Lady Mustangs beat Harrisburg
The Hoxie Lady Mustangs defeated Harrisburg 60-51 in senior girls basketball Thursday night at Hicks Gymnasium.
The Lady Mustangs led 16-9 at the end of the first quarter, 33-27 at halftime, and 46-40 heading into the fourth period.
Krista Coffell led a balanced Hoxie offense with 15 points. Autumn Nelson finished with 14 points, while Cayley Rosson and Brandy Alls added 13 points apiece. Maddison Woodard finished with three points.
Harrisburg won a junior girls contest 40-26.
Katelyn Fitzgerald led Hoxie with 12 points. Brooke Willfond scored five points, while Krista Vankirk, Angel Morris and Cheyenne Hatfield added three points apiece.
The Lady Mustangs recorded a 79-57 road victory over the Tuckerman Bulldogs on Jan. 9, behind a 35-point performance from Rosson.
Hoxie led 14-11 after one period, 34-22 at halftime, and 55-45 heading into the fourth quarter.
In addition to Rosson's big game, Nelson rang up 19 points, including four three-pointers. Alls scored seven points, and Coffell finished with four points. Courtney Sears and Woodard each added three points. Courtney Rice and Grace Hall each scored two points.
In junior girls action, Tuckerman topped the Lady Mustangs 44-23.
Tuckerman jumped out to an 11-4 first-quarter lead en route to building 23-12 halftime advantage. The Lady Bulldogs led 31-19 after three quarters.
Morris led Hoxie with nine points. Willfond had five points. Vankirk and Amber Hayes each chipped in three points. Ward had two points, and Fitzgerald added a free throw.
