Hillcrest, S-H face off

Teams from Hillcrest and Sloan-Hendrix clashed on the basketball court on Jan. 10 at Lynn.

Senior girls

Hillcrest's Lady Screamin' Eagles held off the Sloan-Hendrix Lady Greyhounds to claim a 55-52 victory in high school basketball action on Jan. 10 at Lynn.

Hillcrest led 16-15 at the end of the first quarter, 31-24 at halftime and 42-37 after three periods. Sloan-Hendrix had a chance at a victory, but a three-pointer at the buzzer was off the mark.

Lindsey Crews and Kellie Beasley each scored 17 points for Hillcrest, while Mackenzie Nunnally added 13.

Sloan-Hendrix was led by Britney Wolfe's 14 points. Madicyn Huddleston had 12 points. Shayla Dickson added 11 points, and Ashley Ward had 10 for the Lady Greyhounds.

Boys

Zach Doyle scored 22 points in leading Hillcrest to a 60-41 victory over Sloan-Hendrix in senior boys action.

Daniel Rowsey had 15 points, and Tyler Booth added 10 for the Greyhounds.

The Sloan-Hendrix junior high boys defeated Hillcrest 39-33.

Tyler Murphy led the junior Greyhounds with 12 points.

For Hillcrest, Cameron Durham had 13 points, while Brad Nunnally had eight points and 12 rebounds. David Lee Tidwell grabbed nine rebounds.
