Matthews seeks re-election

Farrah Matthews will be seeking a seventh term as Lawrence County assessor.

Matthews was an appraiser in the assessor's office for five years prior to being elected as the county assessor in 2000.

She has earned the highest national designation (CAE) as an ad valorem tax appraiser. She is a member of both the Arkansas Assessor's Association and the International Association of Assessing Officers.

She is currently serving as the president of the Arkansas chapter of the International Association of Assessing Officers and just completed a two-year term serving on the Arkansas Assessor's Association board. She was just appointed to serve on the Professional Designation Subcommittee with the International Association of Assessing Officers.

"I have proudly served as your assessor for the past 11 years," she said. "I have undertaken the duties of my office in an honest and professional manner and wish to continue serving as your assessor."

She said she maintains an "open door" policy.

"The residents of Lawrence County should continue to feel free to contact me with any questions regarding homestead credit benefits or real estate and personal property assessment."

Matthews resides in Walnut Ridge and has a daughter, Madison.
