Eric Wilcoxson scored eight points in the final two minutes as the Walnut Ridge Bobcats rallied past Cross County 57-50 in senior boys basketball action on Jan. 3 at Cherry Valley.

Range Weeks led the Bobcats with 15 points. Matthew Cox had 11 points. Hunter Flippo and Wilcoxson each scored 10 points.

The Walnut Ridge junior high boys defeated Cross County 45-28.

Girls

The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats started 2012 off on a winning note, defeating Cross County 61-20 on Jan. 2 at Cherry Valley.

Walnut Ridge led 17-4 in the first quarter, 31-10 at halftime, and 50-20 after three periods.

Anna Bland had 10 points, and Audrey McElrath added nine for Walnut Ridge.

The Lady Bobcats improved to 3-5 in 2A-3 Conference play and 4-7 overall.

Walnut Ridge also won a junior girls game 53-16, and a seventh-grade game 14-11.

East Poinsett County

East Poinsett County defeated Walnut Ridge 62-38 in senior girls basketball action Thursday night at Sharum Gymnasium.

EPC led 11-10 at the end of the first quarter, 28-21 at halftime, and 42-30 after three periods.

Holly Looney led the Lady Bobcats with 10 points.

The Walnut Ridge junior high girls defeated EPC 36-34.

Allyson McQuay scored 16 points for Walnut Ridge.
