Event set for Coach Watson

An appreciation reunion will be held on Friday to honor Coach Bobby C. Watson, longtime Hoxie High School coach, teacher and mentor.
The gathering will be in the meeting room at Don's Steakhouse in Walnut Ridge from 5 to 7 p.m.
Former players, students and friends are invited to stop by and reminisce with Coach Watson and his family.
Watson coached basketball and track at the Hoxie School, as well as directing and coaching the summer Little League baseball program, among other sports.
"He's just touched a lot of people," said Linda Graddy Black, an organizer event. "He was good for the people that he was around. He always expected us to do our best athletically and behave with our best conduct."
On a more personal note, Black said, "He carried us all over the state of Arkansas running track, starting when I was age eightÉ He taught us everything in track. He spent summers coaching AAU track, and he didn't get paid to do it."
