Mr. and Mrs. Richard Becker of Jonesboro have announced the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Emily Elizabeth Becker, to Christopher Akira Saito, son of Dr. and Mrs. Kim Saito of Jonesboro.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Ruth Chrenko of Mountain Home and the late John Chrenko and Jackie Becker of Mountain Home and the late Sheldon Becker. She is seeking a degree in nursing at Arkansas State University.
The prospective groom is the grandson of Ruth Smith of Walnut Ridge and the late Rev. Bob Smith and Fukuko Saito of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and the late Dr. Akira Saito. He is a 2010 graduate of Arkansas State University and is attending the College of Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
The couple will exchange vows on Jan. 7 at 2 p.m. at Walnut Street Baptist Church in Jonesboro. All family and friends are invited.
Wilma Naomi Holder, 88, of Walnut Ridge, died Dec. 14, 2011, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.
Born Feb. 27, 1923, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Eli and Bell Prince Allison. She was a homemaker and worked as a cashier at Piggly Wiggly for several years. She was of the Baptist belief.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nuel E. Holder; two sisters, Arvina Jones and Lorine Allison; and three brothers, Lemule Allison and two twin brothers.
Survivors include two daughters, Naomi Joan Smith and husband Jerry Don, Edgemont, and Debbie Lynn Paxton and husband Charles, Jonesboro; two grandsons, Terry Smith and wife Jennifer, and Faris Paxton and wife Merilee; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Friday at 2 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Home. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Willene Jones, 74, of Walnut Ridge, died Dec. 14, 2011, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
Born Nov. 4, 1937, in Delaplaine, she was a lifelong resident of Lawrence County. She was a homemaker and a member of Sharum Free Will Baptist Church in Pocahontas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orvel Jones; her parents, Dean and Inez Marie Ragsdale Cullum; a sister, Geraldine Gentry; and a brother, Bill Cullum.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Davis and Ann Brady, both of Walnut Ridge; a son, Tim Poletti, Walnut Ridge; three sisters, Murlene Lowery, California, Pauline Jones, Smithville, and Pearline Reb, Corning; four brothers, Jack Cullum and Jody Woodard, both of Walnut Ridge, Jerry Cullum, Indiana, and Gene Cullum, Crossett; a stepbrother, Odell Woodard; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Saturday at 1 p.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home. Burial was in Sharum Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Eric Woodard, Pete Woodard, Robert Cullum, Billy Cullum and Dean Hancock.

Cleotta Inez Booth Mullen, 89, of Hardy, died Dec. 7, 2011.
Born May 22, 1922, in Williford, she was the daughter of the late Cleo and Ena Beavers Booth. She received a bachelor's degree in teaching from Arkansas State University, a bachelor's degree in elementary education from UALR, and her Master's in library science from the University of Colorado, Denver.
She founded and was director of the Arkansas Library for the Blind and Handicapped until her retirement in 1987. She was a member of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Gale Davis, Ward, and Vonette Templeton, Jonesboro; a brother, Van Douglas Booth, Melbourne, Fla.; a sister, Lynda Ferguson, Hardy; three grandchildren, Dr. Vonda Houchin, Dr. Ellen Lawrence and Bill Von Templeton; and a great-grandson. Her husband, Von C. Mullen, preceded her in death.
Funeral was Sunday, Dec. 11, at 2 p.m. at Heath Funeral Home Oak Hill Chapel in Hardy with Father Linus officiating. Burial was in Walker Cemetery at Hardy.

John Henry Norris, 79, of Walnut Ridge, died Dec. 18, 2011, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
Born Aug. 24, 1932, at Weiner, he was the son of Earnest and Lucy Cox Norris.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia McRoberts Norris; three brothers, Ralph Norris, Walter Norris and Bill Norris; and a sister, Marie Tidwell.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at the First Christian Church in Weiner. Burial will be in Walker Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home.

Ronnie Joe Tippett, 57, of Smithville, died Dec. 19, 2011, at a hospital in Little Rock.
Born Feb. 11, 1954, in Trumann, he attended the Lawrence County Exceptional School and the Rosebud Assembly of God Church in Saffell.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Y.L. and Verna Clem; a great-nephew, Jace Freeman; two uncles and an aunt.
Survivors include his mother, Ruby Clem Tippett, Smithville; a sister, Debbie Brown, Melbourne; an uncle, Leroy Clem; a niece, Tammy Huskey; and a great-nephew, Dyllon Freeman.
Funeral is today at 2 p.m. at Roller-Crouch-McGee Funeral Home in Cave City. Burial will be in Ward Cemetery at Strawberry.
Visitation is today from 11 a.m. until time of the service.
