70 YEARS LATER - Miles (from left) and Catherine Ponder and Ryan Day look over Day's replica of the Walnut Ridge War World II Army Flying School. They were attending a Pearl Harbor remembrance program hosted at the Wings of Honor Museum. The Ponders were stationed near Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. Day made the replica, which was one of several projects on display as part of Daniel Spillman's Arkansas history class at Williams Baptist College.

NEARIFA's work
with IRR on hold

The Northeast Arkansas Regional Intermodal Facilities Authority (NEARIFA) has learned that Integrated Renewable Resources (IRR), the company that has been looking to build a railroad tie manufacturing facility in Hoxie, will not be part of the merger between its parent company, Thompson Industries and Stella Jones Inc., a Canadian-based company that is a leading producer and marketer of pressure treated wood products.

Investigation in Swift case shifts to homicide

The search for Walnut Ridge native Karen Johnson Swift, age 44, ended on Sunday when the Shelby County Medical Examiner's Office positively identified her body, which was found on Saturday.

County gets assistance from NRCS

County Judge Dale Freeman announced at the Quorum Court meeting Monday night that the county will get some additional assistance in making repairs to roads.
