Fourteen Walnut Ridge High School football players have received recognition following the 2011 season.
Four players were named to the 2A-3 All-Conference team, as well as receiving Honorable Mention All-State honors:
Teague Phillips (senior) - Phillips is a three-year All-Conference selection at fullback and linebacker and helped the Bobcats earn three consecutive playoff appearances. "He is a great competitor. He played injured a lot, but never complained," said Walnut Ridge head coach Larry Treadway.
Rowdy Ditto (junior) - Ditto, an offensive tackle and linebacker, is a two-year All-Conference selection. "Rowdy rarely comes off the field," said Treadway. "He is our defensive leader. He knows where to be and how to get there."
Eric Wilcoxson (junior) - Wilcoxson is a two-year All-Conference selection at H-back and linebacker. "Eric has another gear that you cannot coach," said Treadway. "He will invest the time it takes to be successful. He makes everyone around him want to work harder."
Zach Crisler (junior) - The Bobcats' quarterback and safety is a first-time All-Conference selection. "Zach is extremely athletic. He has great vision of the field. He always gives us a chance to win," said Treadway.
The following Bobcats also received All-Conference honors:
Tyler Clement (junior) - Clement, a first time All-Conference selection, played fullback and defensive tackle for the Bobcats. "Tyler is extremely strong and quick. He is the most aggressive player I've ever coached," said Treadway.
Zach Carson (senior) - Carson is also a first-year All-Conference selection, playing receiver and defensive back for the Bobcats. "Zach stepped up his senior year and made plays. He broke tackles after the catch and kept the chains moving," said Treadway.
