to retire

After 48 years at Williams Baptist College, including 17 years as president, Dr. Jerol Swaim plans to retire at the end of this school year. Swaim announced Friday that he will step down on June 30.

DTWR, Chamber finalists for award

Downtown Walnut Ridge and the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce have been announced as finalists for the Community Tourism Development Award division of the 2012 Henry Awards.

Goff retires as LawCo. FSA director

After 28 years of federal service, Rickey Goff hung up his hat as executive director of the Lawrence County Farm Service Agency last week.

Slow moving front dumps rain in county

A slow moving front dropped heavy rain over Northeast Arkansas over the past four days. Rain began falling Saturday evening and continued Sunday with slightly over two inches recorded in Walnut Ridge by midnight on Sunday with similar amounts reported in other areas of Lawrence County.
