Mustangs earn postseason honors
Thirteen members of the Hoxie senior high football team have received postseason recognition.
Senior quarterback Sebastian Irvin was named to the 3A All-State first team, 3A-3 All-Conference first team and was named as the Outstanding Back in the conference.
Irvin rushed for 1,173 yards and 17 touchdowns. He passed for 562 yards and eight touchdowns. He set new school records for career rushing yards, career rushing attempts, career touchdown passes and career total offense. On defense, he recorded 47 tackles, one sack and five tackles for loss.
The following four players were named to the 3A-3 All-Conference first team and the 3A All-State second team:
Devin Roberts (senior) - Roberts rushed for 911 yards and 14 touchdowns. On defense, he recorded 45 tackles, two sacks and had three tackles for loss. He also recovered two fumbles, caused a fumble and returned an interception for a score.
Kenny Mashburn (senior) - As a senior, Mashburn rushed for 447 yards and six touchdowns. He also caught nine passes for 110 yards and two scores. On the defensive side, Mashburn was credited with 64 tackles, two tackles for loss and nine blocked passes. He picked off three passes, recovered two fumbles and forced a fumble. As a special teams performer, Mashburn gained 200 yards on 12 kickoff returns.
Tyler Hall (senior) - Hall had 18 receptions for 359 yards and six touchdowns in 2011. He also established a new school record for touchdown receptions. As a defender, Hall recorded 106 tackles, one sack and two tackles for loss. He also intercepted three passes and blocked three passes.
Dillon Cagle (sophomore) - As an offensive lineman, Cagle was credited with 25 knockdown blocks and achieved a 76% grading average. On the defensive side, he recorded 65 tackles, one sack and two tackles for loss. He also caused a fumble.
Also receiving first-team All-Conference honors were:
Joe Gage (senior) - Gage was credited with 135 tackles, two sacks and nine tackles for loss. He also recovered two fumbles and caused a fumble.
Ryan Troutman (senior) - Troutman had 10 knockdown blocks and received a 70% grading average while playing on the offensive line. On the defensive side, he made 54 tackles, three tackles for loss and blocked one pass. He also returned an interception for a touchdown.
Ricky Adams (senior) - Adams was credited with 24 knockdown blocks and a 78% grading average on offense.
The following Mustangs were named to the 3A-3 All-Conference second team:
Eric Moore (senior) - Moore recorded 68 tackles, two tackles for loss and five blocked passes. He also intercepted three passes and set a new school record for blocked kicks.
Cody Treadaway (senior) - Treadaway rushed for 222 yards and three touchdowns in 2011. On defense, he registered 45 tackles, a sack, two blocked passes and two interceptions.
Colton Brown (sophomore) - Brown recorded 130 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and three sacks. He also caused one fumble.
Receiving Honorable Mention All-Conference honors were:
Seth Hart (junior) - The Mustangs' placekicker connected on a school-record 40 extra points, and was successful on his only field goal attempt of the season.
D.J. Kendrick (senior) - From the offensive backfield, Kendrick rushed for 284 yards and two touchdowns. He recorded 46 tackles from his defensive position. As a special teams performer, Kendrick returned 12 kickoffs for 177 yards. He returned eight punts for 120 yards and a touchdown. He set a new school record for punt return yardage.
