WR loses close game to BIC

Buffalo Island Central's Alex Field hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Mustangs a 53-52 victory over Walnut Ridge in senior boys basketball on Nov. 22 at Walnut Ridge.
Walnut Ridge led 13-9 at the end of the first quarter, as Zach Crisler scored 12 of the Bobcats' points. BIC came back to outscore the Cats 20-10 in the second period and took a 29-23 lead into halftime.
The Mustangs continued to lead 42-38 at the end of the third quarter, but Walnut Ridge rallied to tie the game 50-50 in the final seconds. The Bobcats took the lead on a pair of free throws by Cole Hicks with 4.4 seconds remaining. BIC inbounded the ball to Field, who sank the game-winning shot.
Crisler led the Bobcats with 31 points and 10 rebounds. Range Weeks finished with six points and five rebounds. Hicks and Eric Wilcoxson had five points apiece. Hicks also grabbed five rebounds.
Junior boys
BIC nipped Walnut Ridge in a junior boys game 28-23.
The game was close throughout, with Walnut Ridge leading 9-8 after a quarter, and BIC tying the contest 16-16 at halftime. The junior Cats moved back on top 23-18 during the third quarter, but were outscored 10-0 in the final period.
Spencer Wilson had seven points, while Tyler Binkley and Martin Crisler added six each for Walnut Ridge.
Seventh grade
The BIC seventh-grade boys defeated Walnut Ridge 36-26.
The Mustangs led 6-1 after one quarter, 16-7 at halftime and 32-23 at the end of the third period.
Chase Baker led Walnut Ridge with 11 points, and Luke Harper added 10.
