The Lawrence County Angel Tree project kicked off on Tuesday with the traditional tree decorating by local second graders.
The Angel Tree assists families during Christmas time by providing presents to children whose families are in need and meet qualifications.
Anyone who would like to apply for assistance can do so in two locations - The Department of Human Services or The County Clerk's office in the Courthouse. Applications will be taken until Dec. 7.
"It is the generosity of others that keep the Angel Tree going," committee member Suzanne Allen said. "We invite and encourage you to pick up an angel from our tree in the courthouse."
Angels will be available between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. from Dec. 1-15. All gifts should be returned by Dec. 15 and will be distributed to families on Dec. 19.
"If you would like to donate money, we have volunteer shoppers who will purchase a gift for you," Allen said.
Donations can be given to the County Clerk, DHS or to the volunteers sitting with the tree.
