Hillcrest teams busy
The Hillcrest Lady Screamin' Eagles routed host Highland 62-43 in the Highland Classic on Saturday.
The Lady Eagles led just 10-9 at the end of the first quarter and stretched the lead to 28-19 at halftime. Hillcrest entered the final quarter with a 40-30 advantage.
Mackenzie Nunnally led Hillcrest with 18 points and seven rebounds. Lindsey Crews had 12 points and five steals. Stacy Maxwell, Katherine Tidwell and Kellie Beasley each added eight points.
Batesville Southside defeated Hillcrest's junior high girls 45-25.
The junior Lady Eagles trailed just 22-17 at halftime, but were outscored 23-8 in the second half.
Katelyn Richey scored 13 points, and Natalie Glenn added 10 for Hillcrest.
The Viola Longhorns defeated Hillcrest 58-47 in senior boys basketball Friday night at Viola.
Zach Doyle led Hillcrest with 12 points, while Colman Evans added 11.
The Screamin' Eagles fell to 2-2 in conference play and 6-2 overall.
In senior girls action, Viola edged the Lady Screamin' Eagles 47-38.
Hillcrest led 8-6 after one quarter, but Viola came back to grab a 22-18 halftime advantage. The Lady Eagles rallied in the third quarter to regain the lead at 29-26 at the end of the period. Viola outscored Hillcrest 21-9 in the fourth quarter to take the victory.
Crews had 18 points and four steals for Hillcrest.
The Hillcrest junior boys defeated Viola 30-24 to move to 9-3 on the season. Cameron Durham had 10 points to lead the junior Eagles.
Hillcrest's junior high teams earned wins against Black Rock on Thursday.
In the junior girls game, Hillcrest topped the Lady Zebras 40-23.
Hillcrest led 12-8 after one quarter, 16-13 at halftime and 30-17 at the end of the third period.
The junior Lady Eagles improved to 7-1 with the win.
Hillcrest won the junior boys contest 38-27.
Cameron Durham led Hillcrest with 18 points. Brad Nunnally had eight points, while Cody Brannon grabbed eight rebounds.
Pocahontas defeated the Lady Screamin' Eagles 69-48 in the Highland Classic on Nov. 15.
The Lady Redskins led 19-14 at the end of the first quarter, 43-28 at halftime and 60-35 after three periods.
Crews had 19 points, and Shea Durham added nine for Hillcrest.
