Hoxie girls beat Earle
Staff Writer Hoxie got 36 points from Cayley Rosson and the Lady Mustangs earned their first win of the basketball season with a 67-43 rout of Earle on Thursday at Hoxie. Hoxie led 15-14 after one quarter, but began to pull away in the second period to lead 37-26 at halftime and 52-33 at the end of the third quarter. Brandi Alls and Autumn Nelson had 10 points apiece for Hoxie. The Lady Mustangs improved to 1-1 on the season and 1-0 in 3A-3 conference play. In junior high girls action, Earle prevailed over Hoxie 33-24.
The Lady Mustangs opened the 2011-2012 season with a 38-37 loss to Hillcrest on Nov. 8 at Lynn. The teams traded the lead throughout the contest. Hillcrest led 9-6 after one quarter, but Hoxie bounced back to grab a 20-19 lead at halftime and 27-25 after three quarters. Mackenzie Nunnally led the Lady Eagles with 17 points. Rosson led Hoxie, also with 17 points. The Hillcrest junior high girls defeated Hoxie 50-29.
