Hillcrest sweeps Norfork
Nathan Hibbard The Hillcrest Lady Screamin' Eagles overcame a halftime deficit to edge Norfork 51-46 in senior girls basketball action on Friday at Norfork. Hillcrest trailed 23-20 at halftime, but outscored Norfork 17-2 in the third quarter to take a 37-25 lead into the final period. Mackenzie Nunnally led the Lady Eagles with 18 points, while Lindsey Crews added 14. Hillcrest improved to 4-3 on the season with the win.
Colman Evans poured in 36 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in leading the Hillcrest senior boys to a 79-77 win over Norfork. Hillcrest led 29-17 after one quarter, only to see Norfork close the gap to 42-40 at halftime. The Screamin' Eagles held a slim 57-55 lead at the end of the third quarter and were able to hold off the Panthers in the final period for the win. Zach Doyle added 17 points for Hillcrest. The Eagles improved to 2-1 in 1A-2 North conference play and 6-2 overall. The Hillcrest junior high boys defeated Norfork 39-24.
