S-H, BR face off
Nathan Hibbard Teams from Sloan-Hendrix and Black Rock clashed on the basketball court on Nov. 8 at Black Rock. In senior girls action, Sloan-Hendrix earned a 59-42 road win over the Lady Zebras. Black Rock held a 12-11 edge at the end of the first quarter, but the Lady Greyhounds came on strong in the second period to lead 34-27 at halftime. Sloan-Hendrix continued to stretch its lead in the third period, carrying a 46-29 advantage into the final period. Shayla Dickson of Sloan-Hendrix scored 20 points to lead all scorers. Christian Ervin had 13 points, and Kaylie Hammock added 10 points for Black Rock. The Sloan-Hendrix junior high girls defeated Black Rock 47-22.
Black Rock's senior boys picked up their second win of the season with a 65-37 victory over the Greyhounds. The Zebras were in control for the entire game, leading 19-8 after one period, 29-18 at halftime and 49-27 after three quarters. Sam Clem led Black Rock with 24 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots. Dakota Day and Shane Fleming had 12 points apiece for the Zebras. Daniel Rowsey led Sloan-Hendrix with 10 points.
