WR slams Augusta, 54-0
Zach Crisler accounted for four touchdowns as the Walnut Ridge Bobcats routed Augusta 54-0 in the final regular season football game of the year on Thursday night at Sexton Field. The Bobcats will play at Hazen in a first-round game in the 2A State Playoffs Friday night.
Teague Phillips ran 12 yards for Walnut Ridge's first touchdown. Cason McQuay added the first of his four PATs to give the Bobcats a 7-0 lead with 7:49 to play in the first. Crisler connected with Eric Huff on a 14-yard touchdown pass with 57 seconds to play, giving Walnut Ridge a 14-0 lead after one period.
The Bobcats put the game out of reach with 27 points in the second quarter. Tyler Clement's four-yard run put the Cats' ahead 20-0 with 7:13 to play.
Crisler scored on a one-yard quarterback keeper and McQuay booted the extra point for a 27-0 advantage at the 4:35 mark. On Walnut Ridge's next possession, Crisler tossed an eight-yard scoring pass to Zach Carson. Crisler ran in the two-point conversion, as the Cats' lead grew to 35-0.
Crisler then struck on defense, intercepting a Red Devil pass and returning it 40 yards for the Bobcats final points of the half.
Clement added his second score of the evening on an 11-yard run with 8:20 to play in the third quarter to make the score 47-0.
Kyle Johnson added a four-yard touchdown run with 3:30 to play in the game. McQuay's PAT provided the game's final point.
Phillips was the Bobcats' leading rusher, with 69 yards on nine carries. Gage Ditto added 40 yards on five carries. Clement finished with 34 yards and two touchdowns on four carries. Crisler had 25 yards on five carries. Huff carried twice for 18 yards, and Johnson had one carry for four yards. Eric Wilcoxson had three yards on three carries.
Crisler completed 10-of-22 passes, for 150 yards and two touchdowns.
Hunter Flippo caught four passes for 65 yards. Wilcoxson had a pair of receptions for 36 yards. Carson caught two passes for 19 yards and a touchdown. Cole Hicks had one reception for 16 yards, and Huff had a reception for 14 yards.
Walnut Ridge outgained Augusta in total offense 343-46.
Rowdy Ditto led the Bobcats' defensive effort with 10 tackles, including two for loss. Hicks recorded six tackles, with three for loss.
Walnut Ridge finished the regular season with a 5-4 overall record and a 5-3 mark in 2A-3 conference play. The Bobcats travel to Hazen for a first-round playoff game on Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
