ENJOYS FESTIVAL ~ Kari Shanks of Jonesboro helps her granddaughter, Rowyn Shanks, three, put on shoes after playing on the inflatable slide at the Iron Mountain Festival held Saturday in downtown Walnut Ridge. Hoxie approves pool ordinance

The Hoxie City Council approved the Swimming Pool Ordinance at its Oct. 25 meeting.

The ordinance pertains to any container that holds more than 12 inches of water used for swimming or bathing. Some discussion was held concerning the ordinance in relation to renters and also regarding the $5 permit fee.

Delay expected in IRR project

The timeline to bring Integrated Renewable Resources (IRR) to Hoxie is expected to be slowed somewhat, as their parent company, Thompson Industries is being acquired by Stella Jones Inc., a Canadian-based company that is a leading producer and marketer of pressure treated wood products.

Election is Tuesday on
state highway bond issue

On Tuesday, Arkansas voters will voice their opinion concerning the "Move Arkansas Forward" initiative in a statewide general election for the issuing of interstate highway improvement bonds.
