PROMOTING A SUCCESS STORY ~ Fran and Don Cavenaugh (left) visit with Fayth Hill Washington at a the Chamber of Commerce meeting held Thursday at the Hoxie Service Center. Washington, who lives in West Memphis, was one of the Hoxie 21 African-American students who successfully integrated the Hoxie School District in 1955. Washington addressed the Chamber about efforts to promote the Hoxie School desegregation story and to raise funds for a ÒHoxie 21Ó monument on the state Capitol grounds, as well as one in Hoxie. William I. "Bill" Rainwater was honored Friday at a drop-in reception for his years of service to the Lawrence County Conservation District. Rainwater has served on the board since 1979 and retired from the board in August.

Strawberry man killed in accident

A Strawberry man was killed in a one-vehicle accident late Monday night on County Road 269 at Lynn, according to Cpl. Creston Hutton with the Arkansas State Police.
