Hoxie sweeps Cedar Ridge, Bay
Nathan Hibbard The Hoxie Lady Mustangs swept a three-game match from Cedar Ridge in senior volleyball action Thursday at Hicks Gymnasium. Scores of the games were 25-10, 25-14, 25-15. For Hoxie, Sarah Manis had 25 assists and a kill, while Courtney Sears had eight kills. Maddison Woodard was eight-for-eight serving, with four aces, and had 11 kills and a block. Grace Hall had eight kills, while Cayley Rosson and Maria Fry each had two. Alexia Crow was seven-of-seven serving, and had a dig. The Lady Mustangs improved to 5-7 in 3A-Northeast conference play and 8-9 overall. Hoxie won the junior high match 25-13, 25-13. Chasity Kingsland had two digs and three kills. Emily Hatfield had three digs and four kills. Krista VanKirk was 18-for-18 serving, with three aces, and had seven assists and a kill. Brooke Willfond had four digs and a kill. Sequoia Irvin had four kills and a dig, and Zoe Willfond had four assists.
The Lady Mustangs swept Bay in a conference match on Oct. 4 at Hoxie. Scores were 25-17, 25-12, 25-18. Manis was 13-of-14 serving, with three aces, and had 23 assists, two digs and two kills. Sears had five digs, three blocks and seven kills. Krista Coffell had three digs, a block and four kills, and Woodard had seven kills. Rosson had two blocks and seven kills. Hall had two digs, eight kills and a block. Autumn Nelson had nine digs, and Hali Pratt had one dig. Crow was 10-of-10 serving, with an ace, and had six digs. The junior Lady Mustangs defeated Bay 25-12, 25-6. Kingsland had three digs and a kill. Hatfield was 13-of-13 serving, with six aces, and had two digs and two kills. VanKirk had seven assists and a kill. Brooke Willfond had five digs, and Katelyn Jamison had one dig. Irvin was 11-of-12 serving, with four aces, and had five kills.
