Frankly speaking...Sheriff Jody Dotson and the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department deserve our praise for their recently instigated program. The program allows those incarcerated in the county jail to work a day, doing community cleanup or trash pickup, and have their jail sentence decreased a day for each day they work.That doesn't mean that the rest of us can slack. Each of us needs to be reminded to cleanup and take care of our property. The Chamber Tourism Committee is working hard to bring tourists to this area, while the Northeast Arkansas Regional Intermodal Facilities Authority is striving to promote new and existing industry. Therefore, we must clean up our towns and county to make this a desirable area for folks to live, work and visit. Each of us can make a difference by taking care of our own property. continued...
