Lady Cats sweep Bay
The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats volleyball team defeated Bay in three games on Thursday at Bay. Scores were 26-24, 25-16, 25-20.
For Walnut Ridge, Sabrina Knight was 16-of-16 from the service line and had three aces. Caroline Kelley had 13 digs. Christin Holsapple had 11 kills, and Ashlyn Cothern had 15 assists.
The Lady Bobcats improved to 7-4 in 3A-Northeast conference play and 11-4 overall.
Walnut Ridge's junior high girls defeated Bay in a three-game match 25-20, 17-25, 25-11.
Walnut Ridge won an eighth-grade game 25-23. The teams split a pair of seventh-grade games by identical scores of 18-12.
The Harrisburg Lady Hornets won a five-game volleyball match against Walnut Ridge on Sept. 27 at Harrisburg.
Harrisburg won the first game 25-17, but the Lady Cats evened the match with a 25-23 win in the second game. The Lady Hornets took the third game 25-13, and Walnut Ridge won the fourth game 28-26. Harrisburg won the match with a 15-10 win in the fifth game.
Harrisburg also won the junior high match 25-19, 25-19.
Walnut Ridge earned victories in an eighth-grade game 25-16, and a seventh-grade match 16-13, 24-6.
The Lady Bobcats defeated Trumann in a four-game match on Sept. 26 at Sharum Gymnasium. Scores of the games were 25-15, 25-18, 15-25, 25-14.
Kelley was 20-of-20 from the service, and also hammered 11 kills. Katie Lewis had four blocks. Cothern and Knight each had 11 assists. Holsapple and Hannah Massey each had 10 digs.
Trumann won a senior B game 25-13.
In junior high action, Trumann defeated the Lady Bobcats 25-16, 25-22. Walnut Ridge earned victories in a junior B game and a seventh-grade match.
