Lady Bobcats defeat
Cedar Ridge, Newport

The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats defeated Cedar Ridge in senior high volleyball action on Thursday at Newark. Scores of the games were 25-14, 25-18, 25-7.
For Walnut Ridge, Caroline Kelley was 25-of-25 serving, with seven aces, and had 10 kills. Katie Lewis had 11 kills, and Ashlyn Cothern had 16 assists.
Walnut Ridge won a senior B game 25-15.
The Walnut Ridge junior high volleyball team dropped its first game to Cedar Ridge 23-25, but rallied for victories in the next two games 25-22, 25-17 to capture the match.
Cedar Ridge won a junior B game 25-16.
Newport
The Lady Bobcats swept Newport in senior high action on Sept. 19, at Newport. Scores were 25-11, 25-16, 25-19.
Kelley was 15-of-15 serving and had eight digs. Lewis had six kills and two blocks. Sabrina Knight was 17-of-17 serving, and Cothern had four assists.
In a junior high match, Newport edged Walnut Ridge in three games 19-25, 25-12, 15-8.
Newport also won a junior B game 25-15, and a seventh-grade match 22-13, 16-8.
