Early voting slated for
school election runoff

Early and absentee voting will begin Tuesday prior to the Oct. 11 runoff to elect a new board member for the Lawrence County School District. The district is comprised of the Walnut Ridge and Black Rock schools.

John Householder and Billy Lee Baker, both of Walnut Ridge, are in the runoff, having received the most votes in a four-candidate race. Since neither of them received a majority vote of over 50 percent, a runoff was necessary.

Early and absentee voting will be conducted in the office of Lawrence County Clerk Tina Stowers at the courthouse from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. through Monday, Oct. 10.
