Lady Cats fall to Ridgefield

The Walnut Ridge senior high volleyball team won the first game against Ridgefield Christian Thursday night, but the Lady Warriors rallied to take the next three games to hand the Lady Bobcats their first loss of the season. Scores of the games were 25-20, 19-25, 13-25, 16-25.
For Walnut Ridge, Katie Lewis had 10 kills and three blocks. Ashlyn Cothern had six assists. Christin Holsapple was 20-for-20 serving, with two aces.
The Lady Bobcats fell to 4-1 in 3A-Northeast conference play and 6-1 overall.
The Lady Bobcats began the week by defeating Bay's Lady Yellowjackets on Sept. 6 at Sharum Gymnasium. The Lady Cats swept the match in three games 25-20, 26-24, 25-17.
Caroline Kelley was eight-of-eight serving and had 12 digs. Sabrina Knight had three aces. Katie Lewis added six kills, and Ashlyn Cothern had five assists.
In junior high action, Walnut Ridge dropped the first game to Bay, but rallied to win the next two games to win the match. Scores of the game were 23-25, 25-19, 25-22.
Bay won a junior B game 25-14. The teams split a seventh-grade match.
