Hoxie opens season with big win
The Mustangs put the game away early when quarterback Sebastian Irvin scored on runs of 61 yards and two yards for a 12-0 Hoxie lead. Kenny Mashburn ran for a 12-yard score and Seth Hart added the extra point to give the Mustangs a 19-0 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
D.J. Kendrick returned a punt 68 yards for a touchdown with 9:55 to play in the second period. Hart's PAT put Hoxie ahead 26-0. Irvin found the end zone for the third time, with a seven-yard run, as the Mustangs carried a 32-0 lead into halftime.

WR sweeps Cedar
The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats volleyball team remained undefeated in 2011 with a three-game sweep of Harrisburg on Thursday at Sharum Gymnasium. Scores of the games were 25-18, 25-18 and 25-22. The Lady Cats improved to 5-0 on the season.
