Early/absentee voting
set for school election

Early and absentee voting for the Sept. 20 school election will begin Tuesday and continue through Monday, Sept. 19, according to the election proclamation published on page 6A of this week's The TD.

The early and absentee voting will be conducted in the office of Lawrence County Clerk Tina Stowers at the courthouse from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

The Hoxie School District and the Lawrence County School District, composed of Walnut Ridge and Black Rock campuses, have races for school board seats.

For the Hoxie School District, Kenny Lewis and Jeff Worlow are in a race for a five-year term.

Seeking a five-year term on the Lawrence County School Board are: Blake Cox, Billy Lee Baker, John Householder and Cary G. Massey.

The Hillcrest School District and the Sloan-Hendrix School District have no opposed school board candidates and are not seeking an increase or decrease in their school millage tax rates. As allowed by law, these school districts will conduct their elections only through early and absentee voting.
