Lady Cats post wins

The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats defeated Newport in senior high volleyball action on Aug. 23 at Sharum Gymnasium.

The Lady Bobcats won the first game 25-12 before dropping the second 28-30. Walnut Ridge rallied to win the following two games 25-19, 25-19 to take the match.

Anna Bland was 13-of-13 serving. Brittany Dobbs had three aces, and Katie Lewis added two kills.

The Walnut Ridge senior B team defeated Newport 25-17.

Newport won the junior high match 25-21, 25-22.

The Lady Bobcats opened the 2011 season with a four-game victory at Southside Batesville on Aug. 22.

Walnut Ridge dropped the first game 25-27, before rallying to win the next three 25-19, 25-17, 25-21.

Walnut Ridge also won the junior high match 25-20, 14-25, 16-14.
