Hoxie beats Cave City
Nathan Hibbard The Hoxie Lady Mustangs opened the 2011 volleyball season with a victory at Cave City on Aug. 23. Hoxie won the match by capturing wins in three of the five closely-played games. The scores were 25-16, 21-25, 26-24, 25-27, 15-13. For Hoxie, Sarah Manis had 18 assists and was 18-of-19 serving. Courtney Sears went 13-of-14 from the service line, and added 11 kills and two blocks. Grace Hall was eight-of-nine serving, and had a kill and a block. Maddison Woodard finished with five kills, and Alyssa Coggins had one.
Hoxie also won the junior high match 25-23, 25-16. Emily Hatfield was nine-of-nine serving, and had three kills. Brooke Willfond had two kills and was seven-of-eight serving. Sequoia Irvin had four kills. Krista VanKirk had five assists, and Zoe Willfond had four.
