Enrollment slightly less in LawCo.
First-day school enrollment in Lawrence County schools was slightly less this year with 3,140 students compared to last year's total of 3,193 students. Sloan-Hendrix's first day enrollment total on Monday was 640, down 37 students from last year. Lawrence County School District enrollment was 1,117 students on both campuses. The Walnut Ridge Campus had 805 students and the Black Rock campus had 312. Last year's enrollment was 1,076 students, giving the district an increase of 41 students. Hoxie reported a decrease in enrollment with 930 students on the first day compared to 959 students last year. Hillcrest Schools reported a slightly smaller first-day total of 390 students. Last year's enrollment was 411. Imboden Area Charter School enrollment also dropped slightly with 63 students compared to last year's total of 70. Totals are preliminary as schools will experience slight fluctuations in enrollment over the next few weeks. Totals for the first day of school since 2001 are as follows:
