WR announce new teachers

New teachers at Walnut Ridge Middle School are Kristy Bateman and Lloyd Clark, who is returning to teaching after retiring in 2009.

Jennifer Roark is the only new teacher at Walnut Ridge Elementary School this year.
The Walnut Ridge campus of the Lawrence County School District has several new faces among its teachers.

Jennifer Roark will teach second grade at Walnut Ridge's Ben R. Bush Elementary School. A native of Walnut Ridge, she received her degree from Williams Baptist College. She is a first-year teacher. She and her husband, Phillip, live in Walnut Ridge. They have two children, Noah Roark, seven, and Caleb Roark, four.

Kristy Bateman of Paragould is also a first-year teacher. She will teach fifth and sixth-grade social studies. She holds a bachelor's degree from Arkansas State University. She and her husband, Kenny, have one daughter, Lindsay, who is eight.

Lloyd Clark of Powhatan is returning to Walnut Ridge Middle School to teach seventh and eight-grade social studies. He holds a bachelor's degree in geography and a bachelor's degree in education with an emphasis on social studies, both from ASU. He taught at WRMS from 1994 to 2009. He and his wife, Barbara, have three grown children, Kenneth, Jessica and Jennifer.

Darrel Crisler of Walnut Ridge will teach driver's education, physical education and world geography. He will also coach tennis and junior and senior high boys basketball. He has a bachelor's degree in philosophy as well as bachelor's and master's degrees in physical education. He previously taught at Westside High School in Jonesboro, as well as Hoxie High School. He and his wife, Tonya, have three sons, Tyler, 22, Cade, 20, and Zach, 17.

Linda C. Ross of Paragould will serve as high school librarian. A native of Walnut Ridge, she has held this position previously, as well as serving as librarian at Macks Creek, Mo., Lynn School and Southland C-9 in Cardwell, Mo. She also taught English at Lynn. She earned her bachelor's degree at ASU. She and her husband, Jackie, have a son, Ben, who is a 2011 graduate of ASU.

Holly Corkran, a native of Blytheville, will teach ninth and 11th-grade English and oral communications. She has a bachelor's degree in English education from WBC and previously taught seventh and ninth-grade English and oral communications at Marked Tree. She and her husband, Jacob, live in Jonesboro. They have a son, Ethan, who is four.

Andrea Huffine will serve as special education teacher for eighth through 12th grades. A native of Bay, she has a bachelor's degree in social sciences. A first-year teacher, she and her husband, Timothy, live in Paragould.
